Hello
and Welcome!
I've
been practicing massage as a licensed therapist since 2002. My work
as a therapist stems from an understanding of the interconnected
parts of the body and of the underlying energy that connects the
body with the Spirit, our true Self. This work is aimed at helping
the individual move in a direction of greater balance within their
body and between their body, mind, soul, and the world around them.
When an individual can attain a better balance between all these
elements, they are able to experience greater peace, love, and joy.
To
help clients move towards greater balance, I utilize a blend of:
- circulatory
techniques (aka Swedish Massage);
- muscle-specific
deep tissue techniques;
- muscle-energy
techniques/stretching;
- gentle
myo-fascial techniques;
- and
energy techniques from Healing Touch work and Paramhansa Yogananda's
Healing Energy Technique.
Common
issues that interfere with our ability to be more balanced include
injury, chronic pain, poor posture, and, most importantly, stress.
Stress, in fact, is arguably the largest source of imbalance. Whether
in work, relationships, or other aspects of our lives, the less
in control we feel, the more stress we experience. The greater the
level of stress, the more damaging it is on our bodies and our emotional/thinking
processes.
In
addition to the massage techniques, I bring to the work my experiences
and insights from regular meditation over a number of years, as
well as my experiences with Qigong/Tai-chi and Hatha Yoga. This
helps me to be able to share suggestions for how to maximize the
benefits of the massage session on a daily basis.
